THE MASKS WE INK

Genre: YA Fantasy
Current Status: Polished and being pitched!

Blurb:

Livana can’t remember a time when she wasn’t alone. Stationed in an enemy court, her every memory of family has been shrouded by ruthless magic to keep her blindly focused on her first mission as an Iris, one of her kingdom’s elite spies. Only if she succeeds in uncovering the Vinkantri Empire’s magical secrets will the spymaster return her memories, and she’ll know if she’s ever been loved. But when a new spymaster takes charge of the Irises, one with a festering grudge against Livana’s old mentor, he traps Livana and the other Iris at court in a wicked race. To prove their loyalty, they must discover and kill the other spy in seventeen days. Fail, and he’ll make sure neither of them return to their families ever again.

Nex has trained his whole life to be worthy of his father’s love. As the bastard son of the empire’s general, not even his friendship to Prince Corrin can give him a future; if he’s to ever be more than a failure in his family’s eyes, he must become an army captain. But at his trial to win his officer’s mask, Nex is assigned a bloody task to prove himself: he must find and execute a member of the growing slave rebellion. The very rebellion Nex is supporting with his coin, and his silence.

In the Vinkantri Empire there are no heroes, only villains tasked with the impossible.
